Cybersecurity Career Accelerator

This course will provide students with the non-technical tools needed to enter the cybersecurity industry while assisting them in accelerating their new career. Additionally, this course will help those currently in the cybersecurity industry excel within their careers by providing an environment for personal networking and the opportunity to participate in a mentoring capacity.   

Class activities will include workshops on topics like personal networking, personal branding, resume crafting, and interviewing within the cybersecurity industry. Additional topics will include discussions on cybersecurity career-path exploration, ideal employer types/characteristics, and education/certification options. Students and mentors will have the opportunity to work as conference associates for the annual BlackHat conference in Las Vegas where they will be able to apply their newly learned skills. Students will complete the course by constructing and delivering an instructor-approved capstone project. 

Prerequisites:

Successful completion of the City Colleges CompTIA Security+ class (or similar program), and instructor approval. 

Expected time commitment:

2 hours/week for 10 weeks (20 hours total) for class, as well as the time required to attend whatever industry conferences/events you select.
